Choosing a career can be a difficult decision for many people. Whether in high school or college, or discovering a new career path later in life, a career assessment may help you better understand your strengths and weaknesses, passions and interests, hobbies, and talents. Clients must be 15 years or older to complete a Career Assessment Evaluation.
We offer career assessment evaluations as part of a psychological assessment. The Career Assessment Inventory-Enhanced Version (CAI-En) is administered to assist individuals in considering their interests, personal preferences, and life experiences that play an important role in selecting an occupation with which they will be satisfied. Research has shown that individuals have a better chance of being satisfied in an occupation if their interests are similar to those of people already employed in that occupation. The CAI-En compares an individual’s occupational interests to those of individuals in 111 specific careers that reflect a broad range of technical and professional positions in today’s workforce. The CAI-En measures and compares an individual’s interests into theme scales, basic interest scales, and occupational scales. Individuals complete the CAI-En to assess areas of interest based on their like and dislike answers within the questionnaire. The CAI-En does not measure abilities or aptitudes, but rather personal interests.
The CAI-En is an online questionnaire that takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. We enjoy assisting our clients with additional questions they may have throughout the assessment to help them identify their career interests. To that end, clients are required to complete all career assessment evaluations in our office. After testing is complete, clients will speak with a psychologist to review their responses and ask follow-up questions as necessary. This is a time for the clinician to get to know the client and gain a deeper understanding of their motivations, talents, and interests. To schedule an appointment, please call our office at (704) 464-4910.
